A Bit About Me

It all started when I drew that mouse on my mother's new tablecloth. I knew I would be in Big-Time Trouble, but oh, that clean expanse of white was more than a three-year-old could resist. My first crime of passion!
I can't remember a time in my life when I wasn't creating something. And while it's been close to 50 years since I 'moused' my mother's tablecloth, that passion has never left me. I am especially jazzed when exploring a new medium and making it my own, and could barely contain my excitement when I first began to explore melted beeswax collage. Actually, I can still barely contain my excitement, exuberance, and enthusiasm for what has become my 'signature' medium.
Long before my Beeswax Days, I spent four years studying studio art at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. After graduating in 1983, I hopped on a Green Tortoise bus, heading out West to seek my fortune. Through serendipity and more than a little magic, I eventually landed in the coastal college town of Arcata, California. The very moment my feet touched the ground, I knew that this was to be the place for me. I had finally found 'home'.
More than a quarter century later, my art and all aspects of my life, continue to be nourished by the beauty of the North Coast, and the wonderful community here. My husband and I are so grateful for the sweet life we share with each other, our cats, and Joey-----our amazing talking cockatiel. Other cherished members of the 'Floyd Flock' have included six rats, and an almost-thirteen-year-old duck named 'Sweetie-Pie'.
